Is There a Controversy Growing over IntraLASIK in San Francisco?

There's a new flap-cutting technology on the market, known as San Francisco IntraLASIK (also known as San Francisco all laser LASIK or San Francisco InterLASIK or Intralase). Whatever you want to call it, San Francisco IntraLASIK uses a laser to cut the corneal flap.

There's a controversy about San Francisco IntraLASIK. Some Intralase surgeons have found that the post-operative recovery period is longer, and the visual outcomes are worse, when they use the Intralase laser system to cut the cornea, compared to mechanical microkeratomes, like the Bausch & Lomb Hansatome. In fact, the B&L Hansatome has been successfully used in more than a million LASIK procedures, and is the keratome of choice among top LASIK surgeons, including San Francisco LASIK doctors.

Expect to Pay More per Eye for IntraLASIK in San Francisco

These questions regarding the safety and efficacy have not discouraged San Francisco InterLASIK surgeons from charging patients an extra $500 per eye to use Intralase to cut the flap! Don't let San Francisco IntraLASIK surgeons oversell you on this technology. If you're a prospective San Francisco LASIK patient, focus on technologies that will make a real difference in life, like true Wavefront guided LASIK in San Francisco.
