The Ziemer Z-Series Laser (left) and the Alcon EX500 Laser

"All Laser" LASIK and Wavefront-Optimized PRK are elective medical procedures designed to reduce or eliminate your need for contact lenses and glasses.  Dr. Hyver performs these procedures employing a state-of-the-art laser infrastructure to help optimize your visual outcome and ensure your surgical safety.

Creating the LASIK Flap

Employed in the first step of the LASIK procedure, the Swiss designed and engineered Ziemer Z-Series femtosecond laser (photo left above) is Ziemer's most advanced platform and one of the fastest femtosecond lasers in the market.  The Ziemer's fast pulse rate and smaller pulse size produce overlapping spots, contributing to a clean LASIK flap boundary, while the Ziemer's lower pulse energy helps reduce corneal stress and the associated risk of complications.

Reshaping the Cornea

The Alcon wavefront-optimized EX500 laser (photo right above) is the fastest excimer laser in the U.S. market, and is employed by Dr. Hyver in the LASIK and PRK procedures to reshape the contour of the cornea to correct your vision error.  The EX500's fast pulse rate dramatically reduces treatment time, limiting corneal dehydration and its potential negative effects on treatment accuracy, while the EX500's fast eye tracker -- which checks the position of your eye more than 1,000 times per second -- reduces the chance of a decentered treatment and the associated risk of complications.

Despite its technical maturity, laser vision correction, like all elective surgeries, is not without risks or alternatives, something you can learn more about here.
