Born in San Jose, and now a leading San Francisco Bay Area LASIK surgeon, Dr. Hyver:
- graduated first in his class at UC San Diego with his bachelor's in biochemistry (Valedictorian, Summa cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and captain of the National champion UCSD soccer team)
- earned his MD from Harvard University Medical School
- completed his ophthalmology residency at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco where he received the Wayne Erdbrink Award for outstanding ophthalmology research
- completed his fellowship in laser and corneal refractive surgery at the world-renowned Sinskey Eye Institute in Southern California
- conducted research on FDA-guided refractive surgery studies focused on LASIK, Intacs and phakic intraocular lenses
