“All-Laser” LASIK offers several advantages over traditional LASIK procedures that use a blade. Thanks to femtosecond technology, one of those advantages is that “All Laser” LASIK employs a femtosecond laser to create the LASIK corneal flap, which is the first step in the “All Laser” LASIK procedure. By using a laser rather than a mechanical keratome (i.e., a surgical blade) to produce the flap, surgeons are able to better control the quality of the flap without exposing the patient to the unique risks associated with using the mechanical keratome. In using a laser to create the flap and wavefront-optimized techniques to correct the patient’s vision error, “All Laser” LASIK gives patients a chance to see equal to or potentially better than their glasses and contact lenses.
